GHS just released Semester 2 student class schedules in PowerSchool. Students can now access these online. We encourage families to review these schedules with their students and to talk about their goals for the upcoming semester. If there are any changes that need to happen, students can message the counselor.

We appreciate families encouraging their students to do their best in school. By supporting your student to show up every day, on time and ready to learn, you are helping them be successful in and out of school. Showing up is the #1 indicator for success.

We just have 1 week left in Semester 1 and encourage students to finish strong. There will be no early-dismissal next Wednesday, due to final exams. Next Friday is a grading day for teachers and there will be no school for students (January 30).

Reminder that there is no school tomorrow as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This national holiday commemorates the work of this extraordinary civil rights leader. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday…bright and early at 8:00 AM.

Oregon Gear Up is funding a lot of college and career opportunities being offered at Gervais High School. As part of this funding, the grant asks for family feedback about what supports would be most useful and relevant for their student(s). Please take a few moments to complete the following family survey:

We hope you have had a restful and enjoyable winter break. As we prepare to return to school, we want to share a quick reminder that today is a teacher work day and there will be no school for students. We look forward to welcoming students back tomorrow, and we encourage everyone to arrive on time and ready for a great start to the week. There are only 4 weeks remaining in the semester, so let's finish strong together.

We also welcome Dusty Price who will be serving as GHS interim principal. He is excited to be working with our staff to support students and families. He looks forward to serving at GHS. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or need support—we are here to help. You can call the GHS office anytime at 503-792-3803 ext.3030. Thanks

Parents and Guardians,
As ICE continues to remain active in the community, here is a link to a site that offers families a step-by-step resource guide on how to prepare for interactions with ICE. It includes recommendations on filing out a “Caregiver’s Authorization Affidavit (CAA). While this site lists California, we have also included the version provided by the State of Oregon

This screening is completed with a digital photo screener called Spot. It can detect a number of potential eye conditions that could impair a student’s ability to learn. This screening is completely noninvasive. Please complete the attached form if you DO NOT want your student to receive this screening and return it to the school office. If you have any questions about this screening, please reach out to the Gervais School District

Nurse. Courtney Utter, RN503-792-3803 ext. 5076

Hi there,

Get loud, get proud because your chances of winning are even bigger with $5K Fridays!

$5K Fridays provides weekly opportunities for your school to snag extra cash just for posting on social—as you compete to become a finalist—and ultimately the game-changing grand prize!

Here are tips to be one of the 450 schools to winning $5,000:
• Rally your entire community by encouraging your PT, Booster Clubs, Student Council, and local leaders to get involved.
• Keep posting content on Instagram or X (formerly Twitter) using #FN5GL, #Sweepstakes, and tagging @TMobile and your school’s official handle. Each post counts as an additional entry, so the more you post, the better your chances at winning $5K and making it one step ahead to the grand prize!
• Download the Playbook for helpful tips on how you can rally your community, as well as social post inspiration and copy to help you along the way.
