WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

May 4, 2026

Message from Mrs. Johnson -

Hard to believe it is now May. Only 5 ½ weeks of school left. Please impress upon your students that they are still in school and need to focus. The last few weeks of school are also important.

This is a very busy time of year, especially for 8th graders. They have until May 26th to have passing grades in all class (the whole school year) to be allowed to walk in the promotion ceremony. Please check your student’s grades!

Thank You,

Mrs. Johnson

Counselor  Aloha:

SELF HARM is REAL: Nonsuicidal self-injury, often simply called self-harm, is the act of harming your own body on purpose, such as by cutting or burning yourself. It's usually not meant as a suicide attempt. This type of self-injury is a harmful way to cope with emotional pain, sadness, anger and stress. Below are signs of self-harm. Please keep a look out for these signs and have a conversation with your child.

Symptoms of self-harm:

  1. Scars, often in patterns.

  2. Fresh cuts, scratches, bruises, bite marks or other wounds.

  3. Excessive rubbing of an area to create a burn.

  4. Keeping sharp objects or other items used to self-harm.

  5. Wearing long sleeves or long pants to hide self-harm/injuries.

  6. Difficulties in relationships with others.

  7. Behaviors and emotions that change quickly and are impulsive, intense and unexpected.

  8. Talk of helplessness, hopelessness or worthlessness.

Thanks,

Ms. Aloha
