GMS WEEKLY

NEWSLETTER

April 6, 2026

Message from Mrs. Johnson -

Welcome to April; sunny one minute and rain the next. Spring in Oregon 🙂. This is the last week of 3rd Quarter. There is no school on Friday to allow teachers to update grade books and send out progress reports.

I met with several 8th grade students who currently have failing grades. A quick reminder that 8th graders must have passing grades all school year to be able to participate in the Promotion Ceremony on Tuesday, June 9th.

Thank You,

Mrs. Johnson

Students have prepared projects and interactive displays along with hands-on activities and games to share. There will be science experiments, egg drop from Woodburn Fire ladder truck, digging potatoes, greenhouse plant sale, hammer and drill competition, trivia, math games, candy jar estimation, country matching games, coloring sheets, magnetic poetry, word games, corn hole challenge, and a physical fitness test. These activities are designed for students and families of all ages and will be a fun celebration of learning and discovery.

The Aguilas de Oro baile folklorico will be performing at 6:15 and 7:15 PM with the culinary arts program serving free refreshments from the food truck.

Students who help with setup and cleanup can receive community service hours and students who bring family to the showcase can also receive a “Golden Ticket” to be used as extra credit in a class of their choosing.

Counselor  Aloha:

The end of the school year stress is just around the corner. Stress due to finals, projects, and grades will often cause anxiety, poor sleep, and behavioral changes. Please talk to your child about how to relieve stress and to finish strong at school. Those conversations and support could get them to focus and finish successfully.

Thanks,

Ms. Aloha
