Calling All Parents: Career Day is coming up and we would like you to be a part of it. We are looking for parents that are interested in speaking to students about your career. It will be on February 25th , Wednesday from 7:30 (7:30 to 8 am is set up and get breakfast) to 11 am (8 to 11 am is sessions). You will be doing 5 sessions for 27 minutes each and during those sessions, you can show and talk about your career. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Please contact Aloha Yoshinaga, Counselor, if you are interested: aloha_yoshinaga@gervais.k12.or.us.
Helpful Parent Tip: Neither discipline nor listening is inherently better; effective parenting for a child asking for help requires integrating both, where listening comes first to understand the need, followed by discipline (guidance, setting boundaries) to teach responsibility, ensuring the response is calm, clear, and focused on teaching rather than punishing, so the child feels safe and understood.
Thanks,
Ms. Aloha

Nurse Courtney:
A few reminders from the nurse: school exclusion day for incomplete immunizations is coming up on February 25th, 2026. If your student has incomplete immunizations, please address these as soon as possible. If you have any questions, or need any assistance, please contact the District Nurse. We are still in the midst of cold and flu season in our schools and community. Please remind your students to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs and sneezes, and keep them home if they are sick (fever, vomiting, or diarrhea). Please encourage your students and family to drink plenty of water, eat nutritious foods, and get adequate sleep. Please contact the District Nurse if you have any questions about illness, symptoms, or when to keep your child home from school.
Please give me a call at 503-792-3803 ext. 5076 or email me at courtney_utter@gervais.k12.or.us.
