Counselor  Aloha:

The Power of Active Listening

You can help build a strong relationship with your child by giving them your full attention when they are sharing something with you. When children know that you are interested in what they have to say, they are more willing to share more with you, now and in the future.

Don't be Quick To Discipline Your Child

Understanding your child's behavior is part of your child's social and emotional development. Guiding them in ways that help them figure out themselves, school, drugs, friends, body images, and more, will be helpful in making good decisions and building trust with parents.

Thanks,

Ms. Aloha

The Oregon School Exclusion Day for incomplete immunizations is coming up on February 25th, 2026. If your student has incomplete immunizations, please address these as soon as possible. If you have any questions, or need any assistance, please contact the District Nurse.

We are entering the peak of cold and flu season in our schools and community. Please remind your students to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs and sneezes, and keep them home if they are sick (fever, vomiting, or diarrhea). Please encourage your students and family to drink plenty of water, eat nutritious foods, and get adequate sleep. Please contact the District Nurse if you have any questions about illness, symptoms, or when to keep your child home from school.

Please give me a call at 503-792-3803 ext. 5076 or email me at courtney_utter@gervais.k12.or.us

Thank you!  Courtney, RN
