Message from Mrs. Johnson -

Wow, I can’t believe it is already December. Where is the time going? Next week is the GMS Annual Canned Food Drive. All the food collected will be delivered to families in the district. For each day, I have included the requested food item. The individual homeroom classes are in competition to see who collects the most food. Please make sure any food brought in is not expired or open.  Thank you for donating!

Go Wolverines,

Substance Prevention:

Last week, teachers encouraged students to continue practicing their refusal skills amongst each other. Next week, they will be presenting on Cannabis and its effects on the youth brain/body. The program we are using is by Stanford University:

A comprehensive, harm-reduction-based drug intervention curriculum

Nurse Courtney:

Hi GMS!

The Oregon School Exclusion Day for incomplete immunizations is coming up on February 25th, 2026. If your student has incomplete immunizations, please address these as soon as possible. If you have any questions, or need any assistance, please contact the District Nurse.

We are entering the peak of cold and flu season in our schools and community. Please remind your students to wash their hands frequently, cover their coughs and sneezes, and keep them home if they are sick (fever, vomiting, or diarrhea). Please encourage your students and family to drink plenty of water, eat nutritious foods, and get adequate sleep. Please contact the District Nurse if you have any questions about illness, symptoms, or when to keep your child home from school.

Please give me a call at 503-792-3803 ext. 5076 or email me at courtney_utter@gervais.k12.or.us

Thank you!

Courtney, RN
