Counselor  Aloha:

🫶🏽 Universal Tips for Supporting Your Child with Anxiety:

  • Let’s avoid it being “just anxiety” and develop a greater knowledge & understanding of anxiety and the impact on the body & brain

  • Create child-led predictable routines to reduce uncertainty

  • Encourage open communication and actively listen without judgment

  • Teach and practice calming techniques like deep breathing and mindfulness

  • Provide quiet spaces where your child can regroup if overwhelmed

  • Collaborate with school counselor and staff to ensure consistent support

Thanks,

Ms. Aloha

Substance Prevention:

Hi GMS parents and guardians! This year, we will continue our substance prevention lessons to educate and inform our students on the risks of substance use on their developing brains. This year, we are changing this up by using a program created by Stanford University: A comprehensive, harm-reduction-based drug intervention curriculum. This website has great preventative information for families as well.

If you have any questions or want to learn more about local substance treatment centers, please don't hesitate to reach out.
