We are excited to share a Día de los Muertos assembly with GES students this afternoon with GHS Aguilas de Oro students performing baile folklórico. This is a wonderful celebration to honor our ancestors and family heritage. Tomorrow will then be Spirit Day- Character Day. We encourage students to dress up as their favorite character, but want to remind families that masks and weapons are not allowed. Also, the district does not allow students to bring in candy or treats to share...so please leave those at home...but we do have fun harvest celebrations and treats available for each classroom instead.
We have been sharing photos on our Facebook page and invite families to follow the page and the exciting happenings at GES: facebook.com/GESBeehive

We invite GES families to take 15 minutes to complete the YouthTruth Parent Survey before November 21 by clicking this link: http://www.ytsurvey.org/gervaisfamily25. We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey. YouthTruth helps us understand what is and is not working at our school.
If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other families before being shared back with school and district leadership.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this important feedback. We genuinely want to know how to best serve and support our students and families.
If you have any questions about the YouthTruth Parent Survey, please contact the principal Dusty Price at 503-792-3803 ext. 1030 or dusty_price@gervais.k12.or.us.
We sent home a flier with students grades 3-5 about our upcoming YouthTruth Survey which asks students in these upper grades questions about school and if they feel a sense of belonging. We encourage every student to participate and give us feedback to know how we can better support them. If a family DOES NOT want them to participate, please sign and return the form, otherwise, there is no need to return it. We will survey students next month. Call the office with any questions: 503-792-3803 ext.1030. Thanks
Today is the last day for our school fundraiser. Thanks to all those who have participated. The money raised helps support student experiences like activities, assemblies, and field trips. Please bring fundraiser packets to the front office today. We will be here 12:00-8:00 PM for parent-teacher conferences.
We have an upcoming GSD Parent Support Team meeting for families of students with an IEP or 504 Plan. We will meet on Thursday, October 23 at 5:00 PM at Gervais Elementary School. This is a great chance to build a support network within our school community and discuss issues surrounding Special Education. Childcare and snacks will be provided.

Reminder that we only have 2 days of school this week (Monday-Tuesday). We have parent-teacher conferences scheduled for Wednesday (12:00-4:00 PM) and Thursday (12:00-8:00 PM). Call the office if you do not get your scheduled day and time. Throughout conferences, there will be a Scholastic book fair in the library for students and families. We will also have a GES Family STEAM Night on Wednesday evening (5:00-7:00 PM) with hands-on activities for the entire family, refreshments, and a STEAM prize giveaway. Will be a fun night of curiosity and creativity!

We are in the middle of our school fundraiser and want to encourage families to help us raise funds for school activities, assemblies, and field trips. There’s still time to get involved. Active Children Portland (ACP) is offering a no-cost after school club for GES students grades 3-5 during the fall, winter and spring. There will be 30 students participating in each season, with a coach assigned to each team of 15 students. They are still struggling to hire coaches for our ACP Soccer and STEM after school program that already started this week. If you, or anyone you know, would like to volunteer to coach, they pay $20/hour. Coaches need to be at least 18 years old, but they can also hire responsible junior coaches ages 16-18. Please message Chris Rosero (ACP) at chris@acportland.org or Dusty Price (GES principal) at dusty_price@gervais.k12.or.us with any questions.
Here are the dates and times:
Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 PM
Fall: September 29-November 10
Winter: January 20-March 3
Spring: April 13-May 26
Here is the GES Monthly Newsletter- October 2025 in both English and Spanish with some exciting updates and important reminders.

We sent home registrations forms today with GES students grades 3-5 to participate in the ACP Soccer and STEM after school club. We will offer this 7-week program in 3 seasons (fall, winter, and spring) for 30 students at a time. It will be on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 PM. We will have an activity bus available for those families unable to pick up their students. Space is limited, so please bring back registration forms before Tuesday, September 23.
More information can be found here: GES ACP Soccer and STEM (2025-2026).
Due to limited funding, we anticipate this being the only after school club offered this school year.
If you have any questions, please contact the district nurse. Thank you!

We had a wonderful first week of school and are excited to work with our students this year. There is so much they are going to learn. We want GES to be a place "where each person BEElongs" and is "reaching for GREATNESS everyday." We have designed a new GES shirt with the message "flying higher...TOGETHER!" to remind us that we are working together to reach new heights. This shirt can be purchased in the SpiritGearDirect online store: https://www.spiritgeardirect.com/GearDrive/Store.aspx?guid=4012ab38-75f1-43e5-a8a2-e3a499d83f5b.
We encourage students and staff to wear a GES shirt each Friday to show school spirit: We are Gervais! We also have a few shirts remaining from last year (mostly smaller sizes), for sale in the office for $10.

Please review the attached GES arrival and dismissal map (which was also mailed home to each family in August). We have adjusted the arrival time for students. We will now open the car zone gate from 7:40-8:00 AM. Students arriving by bus or car zone will wait in the gym until 7:50 AM when we open doors for students to grab a breakfast and head to class. School starts at 8:00 AM. We will then open the car zone from 2:20-2:45 PM (1:05-1:30 PM on Wednesdays) with students being dismissed at 2:30 PM (1:15 PM on Wednesdays).
Student safety is our #1 priority and we want to get students home as quickly and safely as possible. We encourage families to use the PikMyKid to update any changes to student dismissal at least an hour before. Please reach out to the front office when you need help: 503-792-3803 x.1030.

First day of school at GES is tomorrow (September 3) for students grades 1-5. It is an early-release Wednesday, so students will dismiss at 1:15 PM. Kinders start this Friday (September 5). We are so excited to welcome them back. This is going to be an amazing school year!

We are excited to welcome back GES students and families to our Open House this evening. Feel free to come anytime between 5:30-8:00 PM to meet the classroom teacher, drop off any supplies, and get some additional school information. We will have Otter Pops afterwards.

There is a Gervais community event this evening (August 25) from 6:15-8:15 PM at the high school. Free dinner and childcare provided for students and families to come participate with guest speaker Fabian Ramirez.
