New football field

Progress is powering forward on the Gervais Fields Project, and the results are already exciting to see!

Thanks to the generous support and sponsorship from the Community Sports Development Council (CSDC), our vision for upgraded, high-quality sports facilities is quickly becoming a reality. Additionally, The Gervais School District Board of Directors approved using monies generated from sponsorship of the online charter school, Frontier Charter Academy, to pay for the remaining costs.

Major strides have been made since K&E Excavating broke ground in early June. From turf installation prep to soccer field restoration, the transformation is well underway—and on track for an August finish.

For over 25 years, the CSDC has helped communities across the country build high-quality synthetic turf sports fields—and now, they’re helping bring that same game-changing investment to Gervais.

Three years ago, the district submitted a project proposal to the Council through their Project Evaluation Form. After a review process and collaborative design period, the district received full approval and entered into a sponsorship agreement, allowing our fields project to move forward at a significantly reduced cost through the CSDC’s nationwide alliance of sports facility experts. Best of all? No strings attached. What’s especially important to note is that after the bond failed in 2022 and 2023, CSDC was willing to continue the grant award until the bond passed during the final attempt in 2024.

What upgrades are being made?

✅ Installing turf on the football and softball fields
✅ Upgrading stadium lighting for brighter, safer evening events
✅ Adding new football goalposts
✅ Resurfacing soccer fields with clean soil to fix rodent-related hazards
✅ Saving ~97,000 gallons of water per week during the dry season!

These upgrades will benefit every student, athlete, and community member who sets foot on our fields, creating more opportunities for play, wellness, and connection.

This isn’t funded by the bond, but it’s a win for us all.

Remaining Athletic Upgrades:

Many community members have expressed interest in improvements to the bleachers, crow’s nest, concession stand, and restrooms. While these upgrades would certainly enhance the overall experience, they are not included in the current bond or the funding from sponsorships. As the district shared throughout the 2024 bond campaign, only the specific projects listed in the bond language are eligible for funding. In response to community feedback and voting outcomes in 2022 and 2023, all athletic facility-related projects were removed from the 2024 bond proposal to focus on priorities with broader support.
