GSD Guidelines for Promoting a Culture of Respect and Responsibility During Election Season
As we head into the political season, Gervais School District encourages employees and students to help foster a culture of respect and responsibility. While public employees have specific restrictions on political activity during work hours, the district wants to encourage everyone in our community to consider following these guidelines to ensure a positive environment. Each school within the district establishes clear norms with students, focusing on safe, positive, and respectful behavior. Students are expected to meet these standards and work with their peers, building teachers, counselors, and administrators to help foster an environment where everyone is invited into the conversation and recognizes that it is ok to disagree while still maintaining respect and kindness.
The district has prepared the following guidance regarding political activity, elections, and student activism:
- GSD Staff Guidelines for Political Activity
- GSD Election Training Deck 2024
- GSD Policy- Student Demonstrations and Petitions
- GSD Walkout Guidance
Together, we can maintain a learning environment that supports respectful dialogue and encourages responsible engagement throughout the election season.
