I have been with the district since 1998. I’m originally from Alaska. I grew up and attended schools in Anchorage and Palmer. My childhood was spent exploring and fishing on Prince William Sound and several rivers and lakes, as well as generally enjoying the outdoors via atv, motorcycle, snowmachine, boat, skis small planes, and yes, I even had a dog sled and three Siberian huskies to drag me around. I graduated from Palmer High School (go Moose!) and attended several colleges in Oregon before receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Management from Linfield College. Between colleges in Oregon, I worked on the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989 and did inter-tidal study field work on marine invertebrates for the University of Alaska to study the effects of the spill the following summer. Having spent so much time in Oregon for school, I decided that I really like the winters here, so I stayed. I now continue to enjoy the outdoors via waverunner and motorhome with my family. I also am lucky to have family still in Alaska, so I can enjoy both states.
