Dear Parents,
I wanted to let you know that at some point during the month of February, every school in the district will be conducting a lockdown drill. As a review, a lockdown is the protocol used to keep students and staff safe and secure in individual rooms or spaces when there is a potential threat inside the school. All teachers will be reviewing the procedures with students, answering questions as they arise and assuring students that while it is important to practice for emergency situations, we have no indication that there are any current issues which would require us to go into lockdowns.
During the drill you will not receive communication from staff at your child’s building. Administration and local law enforcement will be moving quickly from one building to the next to complete all the drills. At the end of the drills, you will receive notification that this event was a drill. Please remember that if you come to the school during the drill or anytime a school is in lockdown, you will not be able to enter the building until the lockdown is lifted.

Quería hacerle saber que en algún momento durante el mes de febrero, todas las escuelas del distrito llevarán a cabo un encierre de emergencia. Como revisión, un encierre de emergencia es el protocolo utilizado para mantener a los estudiantes y al personal seguros en cuartos o espacios individuales cuando hay una amenaza potencial dentro de la escuela. Todos los maestros revisarán los procedimientos con los estudiantes, respondiendo a preguntas que surjan y asegurando a los estudiantes que es importante practicar para situaciones de emergencia, no tenemos ninguna indicación de que haya problemas actuales que nos requieran entrar en encierre de emergencia.
Durante el ensayo no recibirá comunicación del personal del edificio de su hijo. La administración y la policía local se moverán rápidamente de un edificio al siguiente para completar todo el ensayo. Al final del encierre, recibirá una notificación de que este evento fue un ensayo. Recuerde que si usted viene a la escuela durante el ensayo o cada vez que una escuela está en estado de “encierre”, usted no podrá entrar en el edificio hasta que se termine el estado de “encierre”.
