Who we are
Douglas Avenue Alternative School (DAAS) is the alternative high school program of Gervais School District.  We provide flexible, appropriate education for students who need an alternative to traditional high school placement.  Students at DAAS will be held to the same high academic standards as traditional high school  students, but will benefit from a smaller student-to-teacher ratio, individualized learning programs, and guided activities to prepare for career and college opportunities
What we do
We provide diverse and individualized curriculum options for students with varying learning styles.  Students are involved in making their own educational choices within the diploma requirements in order to make their education relevant and personal.  It is our goal to equip students with the tools they need to be successful as life long learners who are active, positive contributors to the communities in which they live.
Schedule
Classes run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Students are required to attend a minimum of 5 hours per day, and will be assigned to either the day shift or the evening shift.  The day shift runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and the evening shift is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Students may meet with the instructor to work out a schedule that meets their needs.
We follow the Gervais School District Calendar. Students who require a modified schedule due to a job or special circumstances may make arrangements with the instructor.
