For the second year in a row, Gervais High School has the honor of graduating two Ford Scholars!
Each year, up to 120 students from Oregon and Siskiyou County, Calif., are selected by the Ford Family Foundation as Ford Scholars. The scholarship award is not a set amount, but is calculated to cover 90% ($1,000 minimum/$25,000 maximum per academic year) of each student’s college costs that are not covered by other resources (such as grants and scholarships).
Congratulations to Calder Ifft and Ashley Bond, who have both been selected as Ford Scholars. Ashley will attend Portland State University and Calder will be going to Linfield College.
This year, the foundation started with 7000 applicants; they interviewed 190 and awarded 109. For us to have two is amazing, and the odds of having four GHS winners of this significant scholarship in two years is truly astounding!
Congratulations to these very accomplished students, and to all whom impacted them along the way.
