Greetings Gervais Families,
This Thursday evening (see note below from Rep. Alonso’s office) a very important legislative committee will be visiting the Woodburn school district. If you can attend and share your voice, it might be very meaningful. This committee will have a very key voice in the next biennium concerning educational funding.
What is not mentioned below is this committee is first vising our district! Though a much shorter meeting (8-8:45-9:00 AM), we are excited to host them and share what we can in the amount of time they are able to give us. We will discuss our programs and our needs and our hopes for the future, along with taking their specific questions.

Subject: Student Success Next Week!
Hello Friends and Community Partners-
We are reaching out to you as a valued community member to ask you for help!
This coming week, the Joint Committee on Student Success, formed by the Legislature to tour the state and hear from community members all over Oregon about their successes and needs in their K-12 educational system, will be coming to the Willamette Valley to hear from our community. We want to ensure that we are able to full represent the successes, challenges, and ways our community wants to move forward!
To do that, we have to ensure that our community shows up and speaks up- and we need your help! Next Thursday, May 24th from 7-9 pm at French Prairie Middle School in Woodburn, there will be a community forum for students, teachers, parents, family members, leaders, etc. to share their stories, concerns, ideas and suggestions with the Legislative Panel. Spanish and Russian interpretation will be available.
You can read an article about the visit here:
We are hoping we can count on you to help mobilize your networks to turnout for this critical event, and we are here to help in any way we can.
I have attached a few graphics we have created and you will find a link below with the information in a Facebook event:
If you would like to share this information in any way you can, we would be so grateful! We hope to see many of you there as well.
Please let me know if you have any questions and if we can support you further. Enjoy your weekend.
